We went to have lunch with Michael today. It is the first time I've eaten at a Mexican restaurant in about 18 months. I've not been able to eat at one since I got the stomach flu right after the last time I ate there. It was ok. I'm still not going to rush into Mexican Restaurants, but at least I am feeling ok after eating there. It was a nice lunch and the kids loved getting to see their dad during the work day.
After we had lunch we went out to The Weldon Spring Site. It is a very interesting place. It is a containment cell for toxic waste that was created from a TNT plant that used to manufacture dynamite in the first part of the 20th century. They have an interpretive center that explains all that was done to clean up the site and create the containment cell.
We looked around in there for a little while. Then, we wandered the small wildflower garden they have in front of the center. It has plants that are native to Missouri. Then, we went up on the containment cell. They have a path and stairs that lead to the top of it. There are plaques up there that explain some of it. It is supposed to be the highest point in our county. It was pretty amazing up there. The containment cell takes up something like 42 acres total.
It got pretty hot while we were out there, but it was very interesting. The view from the top was really cool, too.
