The kids had their first day of school today. It was so weird watching them go into the school building together. I'm so happy that I get to drop them off at school. It's nice to know that I don't have to depend on daycare to take them to school AND pick them up this year. It may seem like a small thing, but dropping my own kids off at school is just one of those mom things that I really felt like I was missing out on.
Caleb had a good day. He said he got to move up the wave in class. This is his teacher's way of rewarding good behavior. Caleb was very proud of this. I think he really enjoyed being at the big kid school.
Michaela I think is going to have a tougher transition this year. She says she likes her teacher, but I get the feeling she's trying to convince herself. She's never had a teacher she didn't like. It was bound to happen sooner or later. I hope it's not too hard a year on her.
I spent the day in inservices. I had to go to a reading comprehension inservice first. It was interesting and the lady had some good information. It was better than most of the inservices I've been to through the district lately.
Next, we went to the science inservice. It was an exact repeat of last year's inservice, same guy and everything. But, he's a nice guy and has some good ideas. He's also not difficult to look at, either.
After lunch we spent the afternoon with the Houghton-Mifflin representative while she went over the basics of our new math series. I'm really excited about it. It's got some great stuff with it. The technology component is excellent. It has a test generator that's super easy to use. And, the website for the kids is REALLY cool. It's also got some great resources for teachers and parents on the website.
On my way home I stopped at the Department of Revenue to renew my licenses. Our state re-designed the license plate again so I got the new plates. I also renewed for 2 years so I don't have to do that stuff again until 2010.
