December 29, 2010

I can't believe that I only have four days left of my winter break. It always goes by way too fast. I enjoy being home with my kids. We went to see Tangled today. It was cute. I would have preferred to see Yogi Bear, but Tangled was fun.

They showed previews for another movie that really looked funny. It's called Gnomeo and Juliet. It's a Romeo and Juliet story about garden gnomes. The kids and I all want to see it.

Busy Day

Today was a really busy day.  After we picked up Zoe and brought her back here I left to go to the grocery store.  The kids stayed home with Zoe.  I managed to go to the store, do the shopping and be home in just a little over an hour.

We had lunch and then it was off to the dentist.  Neither child had any cavities!  Yeah!

After that we went to Wal-mart and did shopping there.  We brought it home and headed out to the park next to the city hall in St. Peters.  All three of us played around in the water and with our cameras.  I got some pretty good shots and the kids were really good about letting me take their pictures today.

When we left there we stopped by Zoe's house and got her again.  After we got home I relaxed for a while and then made home made pizza for supper.  Now, I'm relaxing some more.  I need to go by the Y tomorrow and see about paying for Michaela to go back there for swim because she is very unhappy at the park and neither of us feels comfortable there.

Here are a couple shots from this afternoon:

I'm Back

It has been a really long time since I blogged.  I have not seem to remember to do this or have the motivation to do it.  It was a really rough year at work.  I was really glad when it was over.  It was my last year in the building that I have worked in for 9 years.  They are closing that building.  I will be moving to the brand new building in our district.  This will be the first year for this building.  I have seen it and it is SO GORGEOUS!  I love it.  Our colors are purple and gold, which I'm very happy with.  We are tigers and there is a giant purple tiger head on the wall in the gym.

I have been to a three day PD for the character program we are integrated with the character program we have been doing at the old building.  It really got me excited for the prospects of our new year and new school.  I hope others can get excited about it, too.  It could really make our school an incredible place.

It has been three weeks since we got out of school and we've not done anything big.  But, it's still been a good summer so far.  We've had some good family times, including going fishing last evening as part of our Father's Day.  We also went to the Gypsy Caravan together on Memorial Day.  And, we all worked together to plant our flower garden this year.

Yesterday was June 19, 2011.  It marked the 25th anniversary of the day Michael gave me his class ring.  I cannot believe it's been that long ago.  I am still so much in love with him I cannot find words to describe it.  He is really my best friend and my heart and soul.

Two weeks from today we will be celebrating 4th of July by bringing home a new family member.  We will be going to southern Missouri to get a new Scottie puppy girl.  We are all very excited about this.  We will always love and miss Abby, but our house is just too empty without a Scottie living here.  About a week and a half after that we'll travel up to the middle of Wisconsin to get another little Scottie girl, so we'll be a two dog family by the time we mark the first anniversary of losing Abby.

I've been really working on my photography lately.  I'm trying to get back into the picture a day thing.  I have joined the 365 project where you are only allowed to post one picture a day.  I am also participating in the 30 Day Photography Challenge at White Peach Photography.  I get to post my entry via my photography blog, so I can post as many pictures as I want there.  But, there is a "theme" to each day.  I am enjoying it all so much.  I spent several hours on Thursday and Friday of last week exploring local parks and playing with my camera.  It was great to get out and just be by myself and exercise my creativity.

This is one of my pictures from last week.  I had a lot of fun with this little guy.  I got several shots of him.  I am going to be using another one of him as my close up picture for the 30 day challenge.

This week we are dog sitting.  We are taking care of Michael's parents' poodle, Zoe.  She is a riot.  She came into the room where I am and saw the chord to my laptop moving (I had it between my toes and was wiggling it) and she started barking at it.  She kept this up until we shut her out of the room.  It was hilarious.

March 9, 2011

The minute I got home from work today, I put on my pj's. I am so happy to not have to go anywhere tonight, I cannot even being to express it. No swim practice, no basket ball or baseball, no girl scouts, no school functions, I just get to be at home.

March 8, 2011

I feel better today than I have since last Tuesday. I woke up feeling like I actually got some rest last night. The mucus in my nose and throat are starting to break up. My cough is not as bad. Hopefully, this means I am getting better. I hate getting sick.

Tonight was swim practice. I had planned on working out, but I started talking to another mom at swim practice and ended up talking to her the whole time. It was a nice conversation. I am glad I got to talk to her just one on one.

I hope I sleep well tonight, too. It would be nice to wake up feeling rested again.

March 7, 2011

I feel worse tonight than I've felt since I started getting sick. I am MISERABLE. I really think that I should not use Dayquil or Nyquil when I'm getting or have a sinus infection. I think it makes it worse. I tried to use my sinus rinse bottle tonight and my one nostril is so clogged that the saline solution ran to the back of my throat and out my mouth instead of just through my nasal passages.

I really hope I can make it through work tomorrow. I may beg out of the staff meeting and go to the urgent care facility before taking Michaela to swim practice tomorrow night. I really do not want to take any more sick days at this point and having a day off is the only way I really can get in to my doctor.

I think I may have a fever again, but there's no way to tell for sure because NONE of our thermometers work at home. I cannot wait til the kids go to bed so I can get in the shower. I think that is the only way I'm going to get my nose unclogged. I am going to take Mucinex tonight instead of Nyquil.

March 6, 2011

Today was a VERY LONG DAY. Michaela only had one event to swim in and it was her relay. It was event 85. We had to be at the pool by 8:00 a.m. but she did not swim until after 4:00 p.m. I'm glad we stayed and waited so she would get this one last chance to swim and be a part of her relay team, but boy was the wait painful.

It wasn't all bad. We did go over to the university book store during the day. Caleb and Michael both got new Mizzou hats. I wanted to get Caleb something because Michaela has gotten a Mizzou water bottle, a districts swim meet sweat shirt and a t-shirt that says "If swimming were easy, it'd be football." Michaela doesn't realize this yet, but I'm going to find a shirt for Caleb that says the opposite.

After the meet was finally over we ended up going back to our hotel to eat at the restaurant attached to it. It was pretty good, but way too much food for one plate. We got on the road around 6:00 to come home. We made it home by 7:30. The drive was not bad at all. It really feels good to be home. I have already gotten everything unpacked and put away. I did not want to have to do that tomorrow. I am still not feeling well and Michaela has girl scouts tomorrow night.

March 5, 2011

Today was the first day of districts. We were at the pool by 7:45 a.m. Michaela had warm ups at 8:00 a.m. Districts are held at Mizzou in Columbia. The recreation complex that the pool is in is very nice. It is a mixture of old and new architecture. There are two lap pools and a diving well. They used both pools for the events. Girls swam in one pool and boys swam in the other.

Michaela swam four events. Her first event was the 50 M Freestyle. She bettered her time by 3.5 seconds. Her second event was the 100 M Freestyle. She bettered her time in that by 30 seconds!!!! Her third event was 50 M Backstroke. She bettered her time in that by 5.5 seconds. Her fourth event was 200 M Freestyle. I am not sure about the times for it.

She really had a great time. It was fun experiencing this with her and all four of us being there together. I bought a CD with professional pictures taken of her during her events. I will get it tomorrow when we go back for finals. Michaela will only be swimming her relay tomorrow because she did not make the top 16 in her individual events, but that's ok, she did great anyway.

Tonight we met up with three other families at Shakespeare's pizza. It has a very good reputation as THE pizza place in Columbia. I have to say it was really good pizza. I was impressed. We really enjoyed the time with the other families. Michaela got to spend time with her three favorite people on the swim team. I'm glad we went out with them.

March 4, 2011

I went back to work today. I still do not feel good, but I needed to be at work. It was a long day. I had six students absent. There are so many kids out sick, it is scary.

Tonight when I got home, the kids and I had to get things packed up. This is the weekend we are in Columbia for Michaela's district swim meet. If she doesn't make state, then we are finished with swim meets for the school year.

When Michael got home he brought suit cases with him. We had the car packed up and headed out of town around 6:30 or so. At least is was something like that. It was storming pretty bad when we left, but by the time we got to Wentzville is was pretty much over, although parts of the trip there were very strong winds.

By the time we got to the hotel, got checked in and found an Applebee's we were eating supper around 9:00 p.m. I wish I felt better because I think tomorrow morning is going to come way too fast and may be painful.

Thursday, March 3, 2011

March 3, 2011

I stayed home from work again today. I really did not have time for this this week. I had a fever again in the middle of the night and I still feel really bad. I did manage to get the rest of the laundry done, though. I will be glad when we have a weekend where we don't have to do anything, but I'm not sure that's ever going to happen again.

I did take Caleb to basketball practice and Michaela to swim practice. I did not work out, though. I just still feel like to crap.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

March 2, 2011

I had a fever off and on all night long. I stayed home from work today. I feel so icky. I really wish I had not gotten sick. I really do not have time to be sick. At least I could just lay around tonight, too because no one had to be anywhere. I hope I feel better by the weekend or being at that swim meet is not going to be very comfortable.

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

March 1, 2011

I really feel like crap tonight. It started about an hour after lunch today. I am achy and cold and cannot breathe and coughing. I hate feeling bad. Michael took Michaela to swim practice tonight, so at least I can just lay around. I hope I feel better in the morning.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

February 20, 2011

Today was Danielle's baby shower. It was at Amy's house. They have a beautiful house. I met Michaela there because she spent the night with Harmony so Nanette just brought Michaela to the shower with them.

It was a lot of fun. It was really laid back and everyone just kind of did their own thing. There was no pressure to actually participate in any of the games, but you could if you wanted to. That was cool. There was way too much food, but it was all really good.

Danielle looked really cute in her orange top and beige capri pants. She got tons of great presents and only two duplicates.

Michaela and I really enjoyed ourselves. I'm very glad we went.

Saturday, February 19, 2011

February 19, 2011

It was a very busy day for us today. Both kids had things going on.

We had to be at the Y by about 11:30 this morning so Michaela would be ready for warm ups for her swim meet. Warm ups started at noon.

Caleb had a basketball game at the Y today, too. His game started at 1:15. When I went to take pictures of his game, I realized I did not have my card in my camera. So, Karen took me to Office Depot to buy another one. On the way Stacey called me to ask me to get hot dog buns while we were out, so we also went to Shop and Save.

I got back in time to see some of Caleb's game and take a few pictures. I missed Michaela's first swim. That kind of upset me. But, we moved on.

Caleb's game was over at around 2:00 p.m. His team won again. It was 18 -11 this time. They didn't do as well this week though. I think they are getting a little over confident. There are some things I'm sure the coach is going to have to work on with them.

In one of Michaela's events she ended up swimming with the boys. And, although her time will not be counted this way, she beat the heck out of the boys!!! Wooo Hooo!!!!

The meet ran late so I didn't get to work out like I had intended. I had to come home with Michael and Caleb when Caleb came to get his stuff to spend the night with Chase. I packed a bag for Michaela and went back to the Y. There was a team parent meeting while the kids had swim practice after the meet.

Michaela went home with Harmony to spend the night. They will meet me at the baby shower tomorrow. So, Michael and I were alone tonight. We went to Trailhead and had to wait over an hour for a table. There was a party of 40 there that took over the whole upstairs dining area.

We didn't leave the restaurant until after 9:00 p.m. So, the day is now over and there are no kids in the house. I don't like not having anyone to tuck in, but I do like having some time alone with my husband.

Friday, February 18, 2011

February 18, 2011

I stayed home from work today. Both kids were home, too. I got up when Michael went to work. I took our bed apart and started cleaning. I got my book shelf rearranged. I managed to reduce the under the bed debris to the rolling storage bin and a stack of papers that are Michael's.

The delivery men were here before 10:00 a.m. Our bed is now much taller and Michael doesn't like it tall, but I do. I love it. It is SO MUCH MORE comfortable than the old one. When I lay on my back I do not feel like my back is bowed up. It is even supporting under my ankles. I can even lay on my stomach comfortably. Now, if I could just get my RLS to calm down. It's been driving me crazy lately.

I did Wal-mart shopping today, too. The kids rode their bikes up to the school and played up there for a while and I managed to get about four loads of laundry done. Most of it was towels and bedding, but it had to be done just as much as the clothes need to be done.

The weather was AMAZING again today. I hope it stays like this until summer, now. I cannot wait until summer. The kids and I both get out on May 27th this year because of the snow days and the way my district is handling them. So, with weekends included I have 97 days until summer break.

Tonight I helped set up the tables for the concessions for tomorrow's swim meet. It's our last home swim meet of the year. It's Michaela's last regular meet for this year. She has districts the first weekend in March. If she qualifies there she could end up going to state, too. We'll see.

We took the kids to R.T. Weiler's. We tried to go to Applebee's but they were packed to the door and spilling outside. I ordered the artichoke spinach dip at R.T. Weiler's but it is not as good as Applebee's. Tonight we get to sleep in our new bed for the first time.

February 17, 2011

Tonight I worked out for 45 minutes. When Caleb started his basketball practice, I went up on the track. I managed to do my walking work out for about 25 minutes. Then, I went to the weight room. I rode the stationary bike for about 20 minutes. I figured out a way a like to do a workout on that. I'm starting with the lowest setting for a few minutes. Then, I go up to about 7 (not the highest yet) and reduce the level one notch every minute. Then, I do the lowest setting for at least two more minutes. I will build this up a little more as I can.

I felt really good after it all was over. However, it was VERY HOT in all parts of the Y tonight so I was very sweaty. I was very glad to get home and take a shower.

I guess we really are a Y family. Caleb at basketball practice, me working out and Michaela having swim practice all in the same evening. Cool.

February 16, 2011

I found an app for my phone today that will count down the days until summer break. It includes the weekends and days off (what days off???) so there are 99 days left until summer break. At least it's under 100. I think this is going to be the longest end of winter/spring ever.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

February 15, 2011

I worked out tonight at the Y. I did about 35 minutes on the stationary bike. I wish I could find a way to work out on that and not get totally bored.

Just three more days until our new bed is delivered. I cannot wait!!!

February 14, 2011

Happy Valentine's Day! I got a wonderful card from my husband today. It was perfect. I love him so much. He didn't get home until after 6:00 so we ended up going to O'Charley's for supper. Not quite as good as the steak house, but at least we were together. That's the most important thing. I am so very lucky. I have the best husband in the world.

The kids each got a t-shirt, a small stuffed dog, some candy and a $25 gift card to Wal-mart. I think they were very happy with that. It was a good Valentine's Day.

Sunday, February 13, 2011

February 13, 2011

We went to church this morning. Then, after wards we went out to eat with Michael's parents. It was a belated birthday dinner for Caleb. It was a nice dinner. I like it when we go out with them. It's always a good conversation.

I spent most of the afternoon doing laundry. Other than that it's been a pretty uneventful day.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

February 12, 2011

Michael went to the wood show with his dad and Griff today. Caleb had a basketball game and while we were there, my mom came to get Michaela to spend some time with her. They were going to go pick out a pattern and material to do some sewing. After Caleb's game he and I got some Arby's and then I took him to Chase's house for a while.

Then, I went and did some shopping. I went to Sam's and Wal-mart. By the time I was finished I thought I would have about an hour to myself. But, Michael was already home.

Caleb came home around 5:00. Then, we went up to my mom's to get Michaela. We headed out to The Bedroom Store. We spent about an hour there picking out a mattress. This is our Valentine's Day Gift. We ordered a new pillow top mattress. The pillow top is actually a miniature inner spring mattress on top of the big inner spring mattress. It was very comfortable. The salesman was extremely helpful. It is to be delivered on Friday.

Then, we went to eat at Red Robin, YUM! It's been a full day, but a really good day.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

February 10, 2011

I did not go to work today. I took a personal day so I could go to the doctor about my blood pressure. In the last month is has been up. At one point it was 165/105. It is really scaring me. They took my blood pressure in my left arm and it was normal, but in my right arm it was still up today. He gave me a script for a water pill to flush the sodium out of my system. Then, sent me off to have chest x-rays and blood work up. Of course this cannot be done in the same place. So, I headed to the hospital and got my chest x-ray. Then, I went to the lab and got my blood drawn. They took three vials and I am sure he bruised me.

I spent the rest of the day doing a little laundry and just relaxing. It was nice to have some time to myself.

Tonight, Michaela and I went to Hardin for her tour. They were doing this for all the kids that will be in 7th grade next year. Gosh, is that building WAY different than it was when I went there. When they added on and renovated they really made the school A WHOLE LOT bigger. I was very lost and could not get my equilibrium. But it was cool to walk around with her and see her get excited about going there next year.

February 11, 2011

I am so glad it is Friday. It's been the week from hell.

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

February 9, 2011

I don't think this week could get any worse. I really wonder what motivates some people. I just cannot believe the things that are going on at work. There are some very messed up people in this world and they seem to be concentrated in my school building this year. There is so much wrong going on with people who are supposed to be leaders, I just have lost all faith in anyone that is admin level.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

February 8, 2011

Today one of my team mates was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. She was having severe chest pains and pains in her arm and her back. The EMT's hooked her up to an i.v. right away. They seemed very concerned about her condition. I called her friend for her on her cell phone and made sure she had her coat and purse. I am very worried about her. It was a very scary afternoon. Then, we had to stay for staff/collaboration meeting. It was close to impossible to concentrate on that.

Sunday, January 16, 2011

January 16, 2011

It's been a nice Sunday. We didn't have to rush off to any kids' activity. We went to church. Michaela was able to sell several boxes of cookies at church this morning. We'll take it back next week, because there were a few people she missed.

After church we went down to Chesterfield for lunch. We went to Spaghetti Factory and spent my gift card from Christmas. We even had an appetizer and still there is $10 on the card. So, we will be able to take that off our bill next time we go.

Then, we went into the Super Wal-mart that is down there. We didn't have a lot of things to get, but it was nice being in a Wal-mart that is not over crowded. Michaela ended up with new shoes and so did I. Caleb will have to go look at Payless for new shoes tomorrow. We couldn't find any for him at Wal-mart.

When we came home the kids started their chores. I changed the bed linens and then got the laundry started. I am glad we have tomorrow off so I can finish what laundry I don't get done today.

We got home in time to see Chicago finish off Seattle in the play offs. Finally, Seattle has to go home and break out the golf clubs. They should have had to do that two weeks ago. Michael wants New England to beat the Jets. I really don't care either way with that one. Next week I hope Green Bay beats Chicago.

Saturday, January 15, 2011

January 15, 2011

Michaela had a home swim meet today. It was a very small meet against just one other team, Rend Lake. Rend Lake is a small team, too, so the meet only lasted about 2 1/2 hours. We got there a couple hours before the meet started so we should be good with our service hours, now. Anything we work past this point is just extra. We also donated four 2 liters this time so I won't bring more next time.

Michaela kind of had an off day. She really got a little dramatic when she found out that she had a 200 for her first event. I think it threw her off. She didn't do bad, but she didn't do what she is capable of doing, either. However, I am still so very proud of her. She keeps going no matter what. She just loves swimming.

Today was my mom's 62nd birthday and Stacey's 40th birthday. We went out to eat with my mom and Griff this evening for supper. We met at Red Lobster. Griff paid. I feel very funny about that.

Friday, January 14, 2011

January 14, 2011

I'm so glad it's Friday. The day started out pretty good. My students had a really good morning and we had very little drama in the classroom. Then, they were allowed to go outside for recess. There is still a lot of snow out on the playground. We were supposed to, from what I understand, keep the kids out of the snow. Yeah, right. I don't think so. Especially since most of the snow is around and on the playground. As long as they were not throwing it, eating it or rolling around in it, I let them be.

The flowers I ordered for my mom were delivered today. I had them delivered today because I knew she was taking the day off. I figured she would more than likely be home when they were delivered. It sounded like she was surprised by them.

Tonight I helped set up some for Michaela's swim meet. I think I can include an hour of service time in all that. By the time the meet is over tomorrow we should have fulfilled our requirements.

After Michaela's practice we went to Applebee's for supper. Then, we came home. Now, it is time to collapse in bed.

Thursday, January 13, 2011

January 13, 2011

I got a book about a week ago called The Photographer's Mind. I am really enjoying it. It's about creative photography and photography as art. I like the way the book is laid out and the way the material is presented. I think I'm going to buy another book by the same author. It is called The Photographer's Eye.

Michaela had swim practice tonight. Caleb and I are supposed to have class on Thursdays. Caleb went in for his class. I've been fighting a sore throat all week so I just sat and watched. Michael went to my mom's to help put up a television in the kitchen so he did not come up to the Y.

I am really glad tomorrow is Friday. I'm just so tired from fighting off whatever it is my body is fighting off.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

January 12, 2011

I had to go back to work today. It's going to be a long semester with no spring break this year. I hope the reinstate spring break next year. Of course come the end of the school year when my kids get out only ONE week before me instead of TWO, it will be nice. It still should not be that way. We started only a week before them AND we're skipping a week because we have no spring break, but yet we get out a week later, STILL. It's very frustrating to me.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

January 11, 2011

Happy Birthday to me!!! Today is my 42nd birthday. I was supposed to have the day to myself, but most school districts are closed, including mine and the kids'. So, they are home with me for a snow day, today. Oh well, it's kind of cool that school districts closed on my birthday.

I took the kids to McNair for sledding today. Gosh, it was cold outside. I let them sled for about an hour. I figured that was long enough since they had already been outside playing in the snow here at home for about an hour and half. I tried to play with my camera some, but I think it was too cold for it, too. My view finder started acting funny and I ended up with a really weird pink glow in a bunch of my pictures.

This evening I made tuna casserole for supper. Since we went out to eat last night, I figured I would make something here at home. Michaela's swim practice was canceled tonight since Fort Zumwalt did not have school today, so we didn't have to rush off the the YMCA, either. That was a nice birthday present, too.

I opened my gifts after supper was cleaned up. Michaela made me a bracelet. It is really pretty. She is so creative and so good at making things. I also got the camera bag I wanted! YEAH!!! And, I got "Dark Kiss" shower gel, cologne, lotion and body mist from Bath and Body works. It smells SO GOOD!!!! I am very spoiled.

Monday, January 10, 2011

January 10, 2011

I did not go to work today. I scheduled two personal days for today and tomorrow. This is my birthday present to me, from me. I did not do much of anything today. I enjoyed just being home by myself watching movies and stuff I had on the DVR.

I have a feeling my personal day for tomorrow is going to turn into a snow day. We are supposed to get snow all night long. It started this afternoon, but has not been coming down very hard yet. We are supposed to get most of it tonight.

The kids and I met Michael at Loco's for supper. I'm considering this my birthday dinner since I don't think we'll be able to do it tomorrow night. It's not my ideal place to have birthday dinner, but it works because it meant I did not have to make supper.

Sunday, January 9, 2011

January 9, 2011

We went to church today. Then, after wards we went to Pasta House with Michael's parents. They gave me my birthday gift from them. I got the last season of LOST! Yeah!!! Now, I have the whole series. I am going to watch the whole thing from beginning to end now. I'm so excited to have gotten that. They have given me the last three seasons.

January 8, 2011

Today we spent the morning doing errands and having lunch out. This evening Michaela had a swim meet in Edwardsville. Michael's parents went with us. It took us about half and hour to get there. Michaela was supposed to start warm ups by 4:30, but when we got there the younger kids were not finished with their meet yet.

It was after 6:00 pm before the meet actually got started. Michaela shaved 14 seconds off her time on the 50 free, but after that you could tell she was getting tired. What a trooper she is, though. She dove in and worked hard at it no matter how she was feeling. She really loves it all, though so that helps. I'm really so very happy she found something like this that she loves so much.

Friday, January 7, 2011

January 7, 2011

Well, we made it to Friday again. I am really glad this week is over. I have a four day weekend ahead of me because I have personal days on Monday and Tuesday.

Tomorrow is Michaela's swim meet in Edwardsville and my birthday is on Tuesday. So, it will be an interesting four days.

Lately, I've been watching the old Nightmare on Elm Street movies. I'd forgotten how much I liked them. I'd actually forgotten A LOT of what they were about. What got me started was BIO had a behind the scenes special about them.

I've also watched the new one that was released last spring. It had an interesting take to it. I liked it. Of course it wasn't the original, but I would watch it again.

I have also recently watched Inception with Leonardo Di Caprio. That is an AMAZING movie. I just LOVED IT. It is one I could watch OVER AND OVER AND OVER again.

I have been listening to "Fall of Giants" by Ken Follet on my iPod. It's one of the audio books I bought with my iTunes gift cards. I am enjoying it, but it's so full of political stuff that I have a hard time following what is going on and have found my mind wandering. I'm going to stick with it, but I hope I'm not missing anything important. I am also having a hard time keeping characters straight. I think if I can keep with it, I'll be glad I did.

My students came back to school today. They were actually really good. Usually the first day back after a long break is very chaotic. But, it was a nice quiet day for the most part. I am really proud of them. I hope we have a lot of days like this. It's going to be a long semester.

I had to go back to work today. It was a PD day so we didn't have any students. I had to give my presentation in the afternoon. I had about 10 people show up for it. Other people were in other parts of the building for different meetings.

I got a lot of compliments on my presentation. I am glad it was helpful to people. I just hope they are able to figure out how to apply it in their classrooms. In any case it wasn't a terrible day.

Michaela had girl scout meeting tonight. We got our cookie sales stuff tonight. Time again for girl scout cookies.

It was my last day off of work. Winter Break is over. I am sad about that, but also, it means we are on the downward slope to the end of the school year.

We are looking for a new puppy. We want to be able to bring a new puppy home as close to the beginning of the summer as possible. Actually, we would love to find two puppies. We want a wheaten girl Scottie and a black girl Scottie. That would be the ultimate scenario for us. I pray we can make it happen.

I have emailed several breeders and we have options, but having a wheaten one is going to be tricky. I guess if it's meant to be it will happen.

January 1, 2011

Gosh have I been tired today. Not getting home until after 3:00 a.m. took it out of all of us. Well, it didn't slow Caleb down as much as it did the rest of us, but still. We really lazed around most of the day.

Last night was so much, fun, though. We were at Stacey's parents' house til about 2:30. We played Mexican Train dominoes. Then, AFTER midnight, we started playing a game I'd never heard of before. We played spoons. It's a card game. You try to get four of a kind, it moves very fast because the cards are being passed around continuously. Once someone gets four of a kind they grab for a spoon. Then everyone else has to grab a spoon, but there is one less spoon than people and who ever doesn't get a spoon gets a letter. You're supposed to spell out "spoon" and then you're out of the game, but we just did fork. It gets crazy and was SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Earlier in the evening Stacey had a surprise. We all gathered at her mom and dad's house for a surprise birthday party for her. Her birthday isn't until the 15th but I think they figured this was the best way to get everyone together since there is a swim meet on her birthday. In any case she was surprised. That was fun, too.
