February 1, 2008

Today was a snow day for all of us. Well, except Michael. I think we got about 6 inches of snow last night. Most of the districts called off school last night. Of course the district I work for was one of the last to call off.

My principal called me at about 10:55 p.m. last night. I was asleep. No one in our house is ever awake that late. I don't really even remember exactly what he said. I just heard his voice and assumed that's why he was calling. I got up and went and called the next person on the phone chain. She was still awake. I knew she would be because she always talks about being up late. When I told her there was no school she said, "Why didn't they put it on the television screen?"

Oh hell, c'mon woman, I'm half asleep and all I'm doing is what I'm supposed to do. I don't want to stand here and contemplate why I'm calling you before you saw it on television. I just told her that the principal had just called me. I did not wait until morning because she never answers her phone in the morning so then I would have had to call the next person after her, too.

I did not sleep well last night and have been tired most of the day. The kids have been hyped all day. You'd think it was Christmas time again. They went outside and played for about an hour and half. They needed to burn off energy. Problem is, they came in just as hyped as when they went outside. They were dying for Daddy to come home and take them sledding.

This morning we went to Wal-mart and Dollar Tree. I needed to get stuff to make goody bags for Caleb's party tomorrow. It looks like we're going to have about 18 kids there, I think. I actually will be glad when it's over. Then, no more until next year. Since Caleb has his party this year, Michaela does not have a party, so we won't be having another birthday party until May/June of 2009. Michaela will be 10.

After that we went to Blockbuster and the kids rented Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Wii. Then, we grabbed some lunch and came home. We ate lunch at home and then they went outside. I cleaned up the basement and kitchen and put the stuff in the goody bags while they were outside.

I also finished watching the first season of Jericho. I'm ready for it to begin, but it's going to be 11 more days yet. I'm very excited to see where they take the story line this season.

When the kids came inside they about drove me up the wall. I finally had to make them go to their rooms and be separated for a while. I'm just really tired. They both got up early this morning and have just been huge balls of energy all day long. I need some sleep.

We had pizza for supper tonight and now Michael has taken them to go sledding for a while. He promised them. I'm a little nervous about it being dark, but he'd never let anything happen to them. When they get home they are getting into their pj's and I'll be counting down the minutes until they go to bed. Actually, I'm already counting down the minutes until I can go to bed.

Tomorrow is party day and Michaela's friend Anikca will be coming over. She's going to be here around 12:30 or so and will be going to the party with us. She's going to spend the night and then go to church with us on Sunday. We'll drop her off at her house after we eat lunch on Sunday.
