November 20, 2007~ Today at Work

Today was my last day of work for the week. This is the third year we've had the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off. It was actually a pretty good day in my class today. My students were really well behaved, which was a nice change from Monday.

We worded on high frequency words and consonant clusters with "r" most of the morning. They did a sorting activity for the consonant clusters that most of them did really well on.

In the afternoon they finished up what they had started earlier in the day and continued working on what we began in Math the day before. We're working from the Building Number Sense book in Investigations. They are at the point where they are creating designs with a given number of pattern blocks and recording how many of each block they use.

Today was the big bicycle give away, too. All students who had no absences or tardies had their names put in envelopes. A name was drawn for each classroom and that child received a free bicycle. We have a philanthropist that donated all the bicycles for us. I wonder what he's going to do for 2nd quarter.

It was a good day at work, but I am glad for the long weekend.
