It's Black Friday and yes I am one of those crazy people that gets up before the sun to go shopping. Even crazier is the fact that I LOVE it. I am not a morning person, but this one day of the year I just love. It really gets me in the mood for the holiday season. I know a lot of people get really grouchy and aggressive during this shopping day, but I'm just happy. I know I'm weird, but it's one time I don't mind being in crowds.
My first stop was Toys R Us. They had DVD players on sale for $20. We needed two of them since two of our DVD players have died in our house. One is for Michaela the other for our living room. I managed to get the last two in the store. I also got a Scene It game for the whole family and a Dream Life game for Michaela.
Then, I went to Target because they had a couple movies I wanted in their $3.98 sale bins. I got Annie for Michaela. I got a couple other movies that were on sale for under $10 for Caleb. I also got him some CARS stuff for Christmas and some Transformers stuff for his birthday. Both kids got shirts from there. Caleb a Blues Jersey and Michaela a really pretty sweat shirt. Michaela also got some Polly Pocket things for her stocking and a few other small toys.
Next was Wal-mart where I got what I wanted for the kids that I'd not been able to find other places or was less expensive there. I also got myself some new pj's and a couple candles for my mom and Karen.
I was finished and home by 9:00 a.m. which has to be a record for me. It was a very successful shopping trip this morning. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
Then, this evening we went and bought a new Christmas Tree. Our old one is about 11 or 12 years old. It's losing branches and just needed to be retired. We bought a pre-lit tree this time so Michael won't have to fight with the lights. I think we may still put our red round bulb lights on, but that's it. I really wanted something either smaller or a slim tree, but we ended up with one that's probably close to the same size as what we already have.
When we got home tonight there was a message on the answering machine. My sister-in-law on Michael's side (Kelly) had called. We had been trying to figure out if we could take Michaela and Jenessa (my niece) to see Annie this weekend. Kelly managed to get us free tickets from one of her aunts that works in the box office at the theater. So, we're going tomorrow night. I'm so excited.
It's been a great day.

I can't believe you were out there for that. You ARE crazy! I actually AM a morning person and there is not ONE THING out there that I would brave all that for. My church pastor went to Best Buy and stood outside in line ALL NIGHT before Friday and I thought I was OUT OF HIS FREAKING MIND! I know there are people that love doing that but I JUST DON'T GET IT!
