It's the last day of November. It's very hard to believe that there are only 31 days left of this year. It's such an exciting time of the year, though. The ending and the beginning. I love Christmas and everything that comes with it.
- The decorations
- The lights
- The smell of fire places burning
- The feasts and spending time with families
- The hustle and bustle of getting ready
- Going and driving through a light display
- Christmas Eve candle light service
- Christmas carols and songs
- The feeling that everything is alright with the world
- Shopping
- Watching my kids faces as the excitement grows
- Hearing about how others celebrate
- Opening presents
- Taking pictures
- Christmas Cards (Thank you Susan for my first one this year)
But, I also like talking to my friends who celebrate other holidays during this time of year. I find it very interesting to learn about their customs and traditions. It gives me a sense of getting to know each of them more and finding a connection with them. And, I also like the beginning of the New Year.
We have not done anything on New Year's Even in several years. As a matter of fact we are usually in bed and asleep before Midnight on that night. But, there's a sense of new beginning and that anything is possible as the new year rings in. I like that. The optimism of it has a way of just making me feel like I can accomplish anything.
Anyway, I guess I became pretty philosophical there for this late on a Friday night. It's been a quiet night at home. I've spent some more time shopping in the browsing mode online again tonight. I did but a couple things but my main goal was to just see what's out there. I managed to snag 500 more points for my MyPoints account. Which is good.
The kids and I watched Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone AGAIN! It's not as good as the book, but pretty close to it. Certainly closer than the movie version of The Prisoner of Azkaban is. That is one I was kind of disappointed in.
At any rate. It is now time for bed.
